Hungary Visa for Indians – Requirements & Processing Time

Eligibility Criteria for a Hungary Visa
To apply for a Hungary visa from India, you must meet the following requirements:
1. Valid Passport
- Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure from Hungary.
- It should have been issued within the last 10 years.
- Your passport must have at least two blank pages for visa stamps.
2. Travel Insurance
- Travel insurance.
- The policy must cover medical emergencies, hospitalization, and repatriation within the Schengen area.
3. Proof of Sufficient Funds
To ensure you can financially support your stay, you must provide evidence of funds:
- Short-term stays
- Longer than 30 days
4. Proof of Accommodation
You need to submit proof of where you will be staying in Hungary:
- Hotel booking confirmation.
- Cruise voucher (if applicable).
- Invitation letter from a host in Hungary (for family or business visits).
5. Proof of Travel
- A confirmed flight itinerary, including round-trip tickets, is required.
6. Purpose of Stay
You must submit documents based on the reason for your visit:
- Tourism: Travel itinerary, hotel bookings.
- Business: Invitation letter from a Hungarian company.
- Study: Admission letter from a Hungarian university.
- Family/Friends Visit: Invitation letter from your host in Hungary.
7. Biometric Information
- If this is your first Schengen visa application, you must provide biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) in person.
8. Additional Supporting Documents
- Completed Hungary visa application form (signed by the applicant).
- Recent passport-size photographs (as per Schengen visa guidelines).
- Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the last three years.
- Bank statements for the last three months, stamped and signed by the bank.
- Salary slips (for employed applicants).
- Business registration documents (for self-employed applicants).
Hungary Visa Processing Time in India
The processing time for a Hungary Schengen visa depends on multiple factors, including the type of visa and the applicant’s profile. Here’s what to expect:
- Standard processing time: 15 calendar days.
- Peak season delays: May extend to 30-45 days.
- Early application recommended: Apply at least 4-6 weeks in advance to avoid last-minute issues.
Important Notes:
- Submitting false documents or incorrect information can lead to visa rejection.
- If you have a valid multiple-entry Schengen visa, you do not need a separate Hungary visa.
- Ensure all documents are accurate and up-to-date to avoid processing delays.

FAQ OF HUNGARY VISA
Extending the visa does not fall within the competence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or consulates. In justified cases, the visa can be extended by the office of Aliens Police. The stay cannot be extended for the period of stay more than 90 days. More information on the extension of the visas can be obtained by the Directorate of the Aliens Police
In case of same purpose of stay, the applicant is entitled to submit both applications for Schengen and long-term visa in case the purpose of stay is employment.
The application is decided by the relevant consulate of the Hungary. The processing time of the application is 15 calendar days. This time can be extended for up to 30 days and in exceptional cases for up to 60 days. The decision of the consulate is based on the presented supporting documents and the interview with the applicant.
