Who Needs an Iceland Visa?
Since Iceland is part of the Schengen Area, Indian citizens need a Schengen visa to visit the country for tourism, business, or family visits.
Eligibility Criteria for an Iceland Visa
To apply for an Iceland visa from India, you must meet the following conditions:
1. Valid Passport
- Your passport must be valid for at least six months after your planned departure from Iceland.
- It should have been issued within the last 10 years.

5. Proof of Travel
- A confirmed round-trip flight itinerary is required.
- If traveling to other Schengen countries, provide internal travel details (train, bus, or flight bookings).
6. Purpose of Stay
Submit documents relevant to your reason for visiting Iceland:
- Tourism: A detailed travel itinerary and hotel bookings.
- Business: An invitation letter from a company in Iceland.
- Study: University admission letter.
- Family/Friends Visit: An official invitation letter from your host.
7. Biometric Data Submission
- If you’re applying for a Schengen visa for the first time, you must provide biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) at the application center.
8. Additional Supporting Documents
- Duly filled and signed Iceland visa application form.
- Recent passport-size photographs (as per Schengen visa guidelines).
- Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the last three years.
- Bank statements for the last three months, stamped and signed by the bank.
- Salary slips (if employed).
- Business registration documents (if self-employed).

The processing time for an Iceland Schengen visa depends on various factors, such as application volume and additional verification needs:

- Peak season delays: May take up to 30-45 days.

FAQ OF ICELAND VISA
Extending the visa does not fall within the competence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or consulates. In justified cases, the visa can be extended by the office of Aliens Police. The stay cannot be extended for the period of stay more than 90 days. More information on the extension of the visas can be obtained by the Directorate of the Aliens Police
In case of same purpose of stay, the applicant is entitled to submit both applications for Schengen and long-term visa in case the purpose of stay is employment.
The application is decided by the relevant consulate of the ICELAND. The processing time of the application is 15 calendar days. This time can be extended for up to 30 days and in exceptional cases for up to 60 days. The decision of the consulate is based on the presented supporting documents and the interview with the applicant.
