You will need the following documents to apply for an Argentina tourist visa:

  • Passport: The original and a copy of the passport, valid for at least 6 months at the time of entering Argentina, with at least two (2) blank pages.

  • Proof of return: A round-trip reservation and, if applicable, internal flight or bus tickets and/or cruise booking must also be included.
  • Proof of stay: Hotel reservation corresponding to the flight and travel itinerary.
  • Letter of invitation: If no hotel reservation has been made because you have been invited, then a letter of invitation needs to be submitted.
  • Travel itinerary: To assure the visa authorities that your trip is organised and temporary, you need to submit a travel itinerary corresponding to the travel and hotel reservations.

Note: All official documents must be notarised/apostilled and duly translated into Spanish. You might also be required to submit documents confirming special circumstances in your visa application.

Indians can easily apply for an Argentina visa at the embassy/consulate or through an authorised visa channel. Here is how you can apply for an Argentine visa:

  • Complete the visa application form: The first step is to fill out the Argentina visa application form and gather the required documents.
  • Get an appointment date: Mail all the documents for verification by the embassy/consulate at consular_cgmum@mrecic.gov.ar. Once the officer verifies your documents, you will receive an appointment date to submit hard copies of all the documents.
  • Attend the appointment: Submit the documents and visa application form and pay the applicable Argentina visa fee as instructed. If you apply through an authorised visa channel, they will schedule the appointment and submit the documents for you.
  • Wait for visa processing: The visa enters its processing phase only after you pay the fee. Argentina visa processing generally takes up to a month.
  • Get your visa: Upon approval, you can collect the visa-affixed passport from the embassy/consulate.

Yes, you need to submit your passport for the processing of your Argentina visa application. Apart from identification purposes, a passport is required to stamp your visa if approved. Once done, you can collect the passport from the visa application center, or it will be delivered to your doorstep if you apply through an authorised visa channel.

Once your visa application is approved, the Argentina visa will be stamped as a sticker on your passport. The visa sticker will mention important details such as your full name, passport number, nationality, date of issue, expiry date, and duration of stay permitted.

Tip: Make sure to check all these details carefully once you receive your visa sticker. If there are any discrepancies, you must report to the issuing authority immediately for correction.

Yes, minors need a visa to travel to Argentina. Each applicant, including minors, needs to submit a separate visa application form.

Additionally, the visa application process for minors involves providing additional documentation, such as birth certificates and consent letters from both parents or legal guardians. Check the specific requirements with the embassy or an authorised visa channel before applying.

No, Argentina does not provide a visa on arrival for Indian citizens. You must apply for a visa before traveling to the country.

An Argentina visa is generally processed in 25-30 days. Therefore, you are advised to apply at least 4 weeks before your planned travel date.

Here are a few points you can keep in mind to ensure that your Argentina visa application is approved:

  • Error-free application: Complete the visa application form accurately and completely. The Argentinian government clearly specifies that intentionally submitting false information can even lead to permanent ineligibility to enter Argentina. Never sign the application you are submitting without reviewing it first for accuracy.
  • Valid passport: Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from your intended date of entry into Argentina and has sufficient blank pages. If not, renew your passport before applying.
  • Recent photographs: It is important to submit recent passport-sized photographs that meet the specific requirements of the Argentinian immigration authorities. Avoid heavy filters to ensure you look the same way as seen in the photograph.
  • Valid supporting documents: Provide all required supporting documents, such as financial statements, employment, and an invitation letter (if applicable). Make sure that the documents also meet the visa requirements. For example, when submitting bank statements and pay slips, ensure that they show sufficient funds to cover your stay in Argentina.
  • Clear purpose of visit: Clearly state the purpose of your visit. Whether you are traveling for tourism, ensure you explain your intentions clearly and back them up with the necessary documents, such as invitation letters or travel itineraries.

If rejected, carefully review the reasons for rejection. Once you have identified the error, address it and consider reapplying.

The validity of a visa refers to the timeframe within which you can enter a country. In contrast, the stay period is the maximum number of days you are allowed to stay in the country once you enter.

Let us understand it with this example:

Suppose you receive a single-entry Argentina visa with a validity period from January 1, 2024, to March 31, 2024, and a stay period of 30 days. This means you can enter Argentina anytime between January 1 and March 31, 2024. However, once you enter, you can only stay for up to 30 days at a time.

It also means that if you choose to enter Argentina on March 29, 2024, you can still stay for 30 days from that date. You only need to ensure that, once you enter within the validity period, you stay within the duration of stay allowed.

Yes, you can extend your Argentina visa. You can do so at the National Directorate of Migration in Buenos Aires or at any immigration delegation or office in the country's interior. Please note an extension request must be made before your current visa expires.

No, Indians cannot work on an Argentina tourist visa. Engaging in any work activities on a tourist visa is against the rules and can result in penalties or deportation.

If you wish to work in Argentina, you must apply for a Temporary work visa, usually valid for one year. You can check the requirements and conditions on the Argentina Embassy’s website.

Travelers in transit to other destinations who stay at Argentina’s international airports for less than 12 hours do not need a transit visa. If their layover is longer than 12 hours, they will need a transit visa, which they can apply for at the embassy or consulate.

Here are the types of Argentina visas that Indians can apply for:

  • Tourist visa: It is issued for short-term tourism purposes, generally allowing a stay of 30 days; however, working on a tourist visa is restricted.
  • Business visa: Issued to foreign nationals traveling to Argentina for business activities, allowing a maximum 60-day stay.
  • Working visa: The Argentina working visa is for foreign nationals who wish to live and work in Argentina for the long term.
  • Student visa: The Argentina government issues two types of student visas. One is issued for a period of less than 365 days and the other for 365+ days, depending on the course you opt for.
  • Religious visa: This visa is granted to individuals (usually religious leaders and members of religious organisations) traveling to Argentina for religious purposes.

Please note that each visa type has specific requirements and documentation, which you must check with the Argentina Embassy before applying.

Only Indian citizens holding a US B1/B2 visa with a minimum validity of 6 months can apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to Argentina. However, this option is only available for tourist visas.

If you have a valid US B1/B2 visa but are visiting Argentina for, say, business purposes, you will have to apply for a business visa at the embassy or consulate.

Passport jurisdiction refers to the specific embassy/visa application center assigned to process your visa application based on your current residence.

The states under each consulate are shared below:

  • Consulate General and Promotion Center of the Argentine Republic in Mumbai: Maharashtra
  • Embassy of the Argentine Republic in New Delhi: All the states (except Maharashtra)
