Latvia Visa for Indians – Requirements & Application Process
Planning a trip to Latvia? Indian citizens must obtain a Schengen visa to visit Latvia for tourism, business, study, or family visits.
Who Needs a Latvia Visa?
Since Latvia is part of the Schengen Area, Indian passport holders must apply for a Schengen visa to enter Latvia.

To demonstrate financial stability, you must submit:

- Stays exceeding 30 days
- Recent bank statements (last three months), stamped and signed by the bank.
4. Proof of Accommodation
You must provide one of the following:
- Hotel booking confirmation.
- Cruise ticket (if applicable).
- Invitation letter from a Latvian host (if staying with family or friends).
5. Proof of Travel
- A confirmed round-trip flight itinerary is required.
- If visiting multiple Schengen countries, submit internal travel bookings (flights, trains, or buses).
6. Purpose of Stay
Depending on your visit type, you must provide supporting documents:
- Tourism: A detailed travel itinerary and hotel bookings.
- Business: A letter of invitation from a Latvian company.
- Study: A university admission letter.
- Family/Friends Visit: An official invitation letter from your host.
7. Biometric Data Submission
- First-time Schengen visa applicants must submit biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) at the visa application center.
8. Additional Supporting Documents
- Duly filled and signed Latvia visa application form.
- Recent passport-sized photographs (as per Schengen visa guidelines).
- Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the last three years.
- Salary slips (if employed).
- Business registration documents (if self-employed).
Latvia Visa Processing Time in India
The processing time for a Latvia visa may vary:
- Standard processing time: 15 working days.
- Peak season delays: Processing can take up to 30-45 days.
- Recommended application time: Apply at least 4-6 weeks before your trip to avoid last-minute issues.

FAQ OF LATVIA VISA
Extending the visa does not fall within the competence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or consulates. In justified cases, the visa can be extended by the office of Aliens Police. The stay cannot be extended for the period of stay more than 90 days. More information on the extension of the visas can be obtained by the Directorate of the Aliens Police
In case of same purpose of stay, the applicant is entitled to submit both applications for Schengen and long-term visa in case the purpose of stay is employment.
The application is decided by the relevant consulate of the LATVIA. The processing time of the application is 15 calendar days. This time can be extended for up to 30 days and in exceptional cases for up to 60 days. The decision of the consulate is based on the presented supporting documents and the interview with the applicant.
